Lime varieties and biolime products
As already stated in previous articles, our company Calchera San Giorgio offers its customers a large quantity of products useful for satisfying different requests. Among the various materials we have available is biolime plaster, a material with high quality, healthy and eco-sustainable characteristics. It has good resistance to bad weather and humidity and has some qualities that make it pleasant to the touch and sight.
Lime, a multifaceted and ductile material
Lime is an ancient material and has been used for many purposes over the years. The Romans and the Phoenicians had already begun to use it as a building material by mixing it with sand to make mortar. There are generally two varieties of this material:
Aerial lime, which can only be used outdoors and which hardens, firmly binding the bricks of the masonry or allowing the plaster to adhere to the support.
Hydraulic lime, which has the quality of setting even under water or in environments with high humidity. It is in turn divided into natural or artificial: biolime plaster belongs to the first classification and is easily recognizable thanks to its light hazelnut colour.
The biolime products available in our catalogue
It is therefore clear that biolime plaster is a material characterized by high quality. For its production, our company uses ancient procedures: first of all, the calcination is prepared in the so-called furnaces made up of truncated cone or truncated pyramidal structures.
Furthermore, our company Calchera San Giorgio offers its customers various natural hydraulic lime (biolime) products that can be used both in external and internal environments, in particular: Rudus Muratura, Rudus Rinzaffo, Rudus Intonaco AR30, Rudus Intonaco MAK12, Rudus Intonaco AR12, ST06 Stabilization and Thermal Shield.
