How to choose it
Different plaster finishes are certainly necessary whether it is a new construction or a renovation; plaster for wall surfaces is essential.
When we talk about plaster we mean a mineral coating of walls that has both a protective and decorative function. The thickness with which it is applied is variable, ranging from a few millimeters to a few centimeters. The aim is to uniform and level the surfaces.
Composition and use of plaster
The different plaster finishes are used when carrying out renovation work for walls and ceilings.
Plastering a wall or ceiling means applying several layers of mortar, in order to cover bricks, beams and pillars. The ultimate goal is to protect and create a smooth finish on the surface, thus facilitating the application of paint and other materials.
There are usually three layers of plaster that cover a wall: anchoring, leveling and finishing layer.
When applying plaster for external walls, it is possible to create a rough finish in order to allow rainwater to drain evenly, avoiding the risk of penetration into the walls.
Plaster is made up of a mixture of binders that make the material permeable and breathable, thus protecting the underlying surface.
Different stucco plaster finishes
Let’s now look at stucco plaster which, compared to the traditional one, is more shiny and full-bodied and highlights the beauty of the plaster itself. It is a fine plaster, created many years ago to decorate and create various effects on walls.
To date, stucco plasters with a mineral base are available on the market which are applied to traditional plaster in order to create a simulation of old plasters.
The main objective of stucco plaster is to decorate the walls to make them full of color and original. There are different types of this material which differ in both their aesthetic and compositional characteristics.
