the choice guide
Whether it is new environments that are about to be built or a renovation, it is important to choose the best finishing plaster for exteriors.
Plaster is a coating for walls that has the function of being both protective and decorative. It has a variable thickness, a few millimeters or a few centimeters, with the aim of making the surfaces uniform.
It is a low-cost covering, it is quick to prepare and it is really easy to apply.
The various layers of plaster
Speaking of finishing plaster for exteriors, we are talking about a mortar based on water, selected sands and a mineral binder.
The first layer that comes into contact with the wall is called rendering and is used to level and regulate the water absorbency layer of the various surfaces, making the subsequent layer adhere more closely.
The intermediate layer is called arriccio, it maintains water tightness and mechanical resistance. Here it is necessary to use less hydraulic binder than in the first layer. This way it will be well compact and will not tend to create cracks.
With the last layer, smooth and homogeneous aesthetic finishes are created, in this way the plaster is protected.
It is important to ensure good water absorbency so that damp parts or mold do not form.
Type of plaster and quality to choose
In addition to the quality of the components, to be able to create a good finishing plaster it is important to carry out correct installation work.
The environmental conditions must have certain standards, a temperature between 5 and 35° and a humidity of 65%. It is important to have the right waiting time between laying one layer and another. This way the hardening process will not be hindered.
If the right conditions are not respected, the plaster could detach, crumble or present other defects.
