What you need to know

If you have decided to apply a finish on plasterboard with a plaster effect and want to obtain a perfect result, it is important to know the specific technique and carry out the work in the best possible way.

For this reason, it is always advisable to rely on a professional.

When building a house, the plastering phase is the most important one in a wall because from here the finishing layers are created to arrive at the finished product.

The choice of plaster

The finish on plasterboard with a plaster effect, based on the mixture chosen, can be of three different types:

  1. For general use (in a continuous layer) or for local use (used only in some parts to mask irregularities and dents);

  1. To create protection against cold and humidity, atmospheric events and loud sounds;

  1. As a decorative layer;

The surfaces must be previously treated with a specific primer and subsequently smoothed out by applying a smoothing compound, reinforced with an alkali-resistant mesh. Alternatively, it is possible to prepare the base by applying filler paint.

How is it applied?

Before creating a finish on plasterboard with a plaster effect, you need to fix the problem areas and pay attention to the weakest ones.

Let’s see a specific example regarding the joints:

  1. First you need to choose the right material
  2. You then need to dilute the mixture. This process can be done manually or with a mixer.
  3. Then apply the plaster with a spatula and start smoothing. Place the reinforcing mesh where necessary and cover with another layer.
  4. Flatten the entire space with a wide spatula.
  5. Once the plaster is dry you will need to clean with sandpaper to smooth out the imperfections.

And now all you have to do is choose your favorite color and paint the walls to have a perfect final result!
