The main cause of deterioration of the walls or masonry of homes or buildings is due to the presence of rising damp, also called rising damp from the ground.
This phenomenon occurs due to the presence of water in the ground, which rises from the foundations of the building in question at different levels based on:
- Porosity of the support;
- Absorption capacity of the building materials used;
- Water concentration and seasonality.
Furthermore, the surfaces most sensitive to this problem are block walls, such as those made of brick and tuff, which have such an absorption capacity that they are defined as real sponges.
But, how do you recognize rising damp on a wall?
This phenomenon is very evident due to the formation of a damp halo capable of covering the entire lower band of the masonry up to half a meter in height, and the consequent chalking of the wall facings.
So if you are looking for a plaster for damp walls continue reading this article because I will now present you some of our proposals for plasters for damp walls.
Plaster for damp walls: some of our proposals
Dehumidifying system
As a first proposal, I present to you the dehumidifying system, composed of 1 cm of Fortis Rinzaffo Antisalt and 2 cm of plaster Fortis Dehumidifying Plaster .
This system has the following characteristics:
- Microporous structure that guarantees high breathability and very low capillary absorption
- Absence of soluble and attackable free lime
- Siliceous aggregates which make the mortar more resistant to chemical aggression and contribute to providing resistance to the whole.

Rudus Risana
The second proposal, however, is called “ Rudus Risana” , that is, a renovating anti-mold and anti-condensation bioplaster specific for the renovation of damp walls.
Furthermore, this material has the following characteristics:
- Pre-packaged powder;
- Mineral,
- Breathable;
- Eco sustainable and bio compatible;
- Fibre-reinforced;
- Made of natural NHL 5 hydraulic lime.
