What it is and how to use it

Plaster mortar is a building material that is widely used in the construction world. It is composed of binders: lime or cement, and other materials such as sand and water.

What is mortar?

Plaster mortar, as we were saying, is a mixture of binder and water, often with the addition of sand. There are different types of mortar and each has particular characteristics that make it suitable for certain uses compared to others.

It is important, in the construction sector, to choose the most suitable mortar and always choose the best binder. By paying attention to every detail you will be able to obtain the best profile both in terms of aesthetics and performance. The mortar is mixed directly when it is used on the construction site, by hand or in a small concrete mixer.

Whatever way it is kneaded, the important thing is to obtain a homogeneous dough without lumps.

If the application of the plaster mortar requires a thickness above 1.5 centimeters it is important to use several coats one after the other.

What are the work tools?

When using mortar, some main work tools are needed: the trowel, the trowel and possibly the concrete mixer.

The trowel is a tool composed of a steel blade and a handle. The shape of the tip depends on the material used and the masonry on which the plaster mortar is applied.

The trowel, on the other hand, is a tool similar to the spatula that is used to make the surface of the plaster and mortar smooth.

Finally, if we are talking about large surfaces, we need a concrete mixer.
