Bolzano Post Office Building

Built in 1889-90 in neo-Renaissance style inspired by the Viennese architecture of the Ringstraße. Originally the building was three floors high and was surmounted by a glass dome that gave light to the lower floors. In the thirties the dome was demolished to make room for a fourth floor. Currently in the building there are two rooms on the ground floor that make up the central post office in Bolzano, while the upper floors are occupied by the offices of the Poste Italiane branch and the Bolzano headquarters of the Ministry of Communications.
