Of Lombard origin, with bastions and 5 towers, it stands on the top of a 592 meter high tufaceous hill.
It gives us the idea of a typical castle in a fortified centre, and is surrounded by a perimeter road that connects to the urban center that developed outside the walls. The village has a pentagonal plan and is enclosed by a wall with a tower, with a circular section, mostly scarp, at the end of each segment.
