Sanctuary of the Madonna della Salute in Monteortone

According to tradition, the origin of the sanctuary dates back to 1428, when a soldier he retired in prayer in this place and saw Our Lady who promised him the healing of old wounds on his legs if he would bathe himself with water from a nearby spring. Miraculously healed, the protagonist of the story found among the stones a painted panel depicting the Virgin with the Child Jesus and on the sides St. Christopher the Martyr and St. Anthony the Abbot. As the news of the miracle spread, an increasing number of devotees began to visit the locality, while at the Vergine di Monteortone was also attributed to herself for the rapid end of the plague that had struck Padua at that time.
