Historic building of the Trentino tradition

reborn with the restoration
concluded in 2022.

The Maso is located in the Martincelli district , in the municipality of Grigno (Trento) on the ancient border that divided the Austrian Empire and the Kingdom of Italy, in the extreme eastern Valsugana; valley historically dedicated to agriculture where every peasant family lived from agricultural work and obtained everything they needed from the fields. The typical building of this peasant tradition is the farm, built using the materials that the area offered: wood, stone and lime.

The farm has been restored and repurposed using exclusively natural and recycled materials.

All the walls were integrated, plastered and finished with lime materials, formulated and produced by Calchèra San Giorgio ; in this way the farm itself is an exhibition space in which the visitor can see and touch the company’s materials on a “real scale”.

The restoration has brought the ancient Maso back to life, now a technical, cultural center and exhibition space . Theoretical, practical and demonstration courses relating to restoration and green building take place here. Temporary artistic exhibitions are set up and cultural events organised. The spaces are open, by appointment, from Monday to Friday, from 8.30am to 5pm.
