Our company, Calchèra San Giorgio, was founded several years ago, precisely in 2004. The idea for this project was born mainly from the meeting with the archaeologist Mastro Gilberto Quarneto, a researcher who is not only theoretical, as we are used to knowing, but also practical.
He is considered one of the greatest living archaeometers, among materials experts and architectural technicians. And he is also a teacher and director of the technological laboratory at the Calchèra San Giorgio school of masonry art.
How does the search happen?
Within our company there is a research team that also deals with the formulation, creation and production of specific materials for restoration and green building.
The main method is to study the materials of the past and then recreate them within our laboratory, in order to obtain the desired result.
From theory to practice
The first step, in order to do a complete job, is to go and do a field study, then look at the structure to be restored. Conducting cognitive analyses, preliminary investigations and laboratory tests. This process is useful for understanding the application solutions most suitable for the specific construction site.
Subsequently, within our laboratory, various research is carried out to understand the material most similar to the construction site itself.
The process does not end here, but we support the management of the works and the restoration operators aimed at the maximum combination between the project and execution of the restoration work.
